I know you've been trying to carry me quietly.
You've apologized for me.
Hidden me.
Rushed me.
Explained me away.
You've told yourself you should be over it by now.
That enough time has passed.
That other people have it worse.
That moving forward means leaving me behind.
But I'm writing to tell you something important:
I was never your enemy.
I know I can feel heavy.
I know I arrive uninvited and linger longer than you'd like.
I know I show up in unexpected places, in songs, in photographs, in empty seats, in ordinary moments that suddenly don't feel ordinary at all.
And I know how exhausting it can be to carry what is no longer here.
But I need you to understand something.
I only exist where love has existed first.
I am not proof of weakness.
I am proof that something mattered.
Someone mattered.
A dream mattered.
A relationship mattered.
A version of your life mattered.
What you're feeling is not simply loss. It's love searching for somewhere to go.
You keep asking when I'll leave. The truth is, that isn't really how I work.
I'm not a problem to solve.
I'm not a chapter to conquer.
I'm not a mountain you must climb to prove your strength.
I'm a companion for the parts of your journey that require tenderness.
I come to help you honor what was.
Not to keep you stuck there.
And I know you've been afraid.
Afraid that if you stop carrying the pain, you'll forget.
Afraid that healing means letting go.
Afraid that moving forward somehow dishonors what you've lost.
But healing was never about forgetting.
Healing is remembering with a little more peace than pain.
It is learning to carry the memory without allowing it to carry you.
It is making room for joy without betraying your sadness.
It is allowing love to take a new shape.
You don't have to choose between honoring the past and embracing the future.
There is room for both.
There is room for tears and laughter.
For longing and gratitude.
For sorrow and hope.
For what was and what still can be.
I know some days feel impossibly heavy.
On those days, I hope you'll be gentle with yourself.
Rest.
Pause.
Breathe.
Let yourself feel what you feel without needing to fix it.
Not every feeling is asking for a solution.
Some feelings simply want to be acknowledged. And when you're ready, I hope you'll lift your eyes toward what remains.
Toward the people who love you.
Toward the dreams still waiting for you.
Toward the life that continues to unfold.
Because despite what you've lost, your story is not over.
There are still chapters to write.
There is still beauty to discover.
There is still connection to experience.
There is still joy to welcome.
My presence does not mean your life has ended. It means something meaningful lived here. And one day, you'll notice that I no longer arrive as a wave that knocks you down.
I will arrive as a quiet reminder.
A soft ache.
A treasured memory.
A reflection of love that continues to exist, even in absence.
When that day comes, I hope you'll stop seeing me as something to overcome. And start seeing me for what I truly am.
A testament to the depth of your heart.
A witness to what mattered.
A reminder that love leaves an imprint.
Always.
With tenderness,
